Despite the warm temperatures, fall is just around the corner. With fall comes changing leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, sweaters and hoodies, and my personal favorite, pumpkin patches! My family makes it a point every year to visit one of the many pumpkin patches the greater Chattanooga area has to offer.

Mayfield Farm Park – Located in Athens, TN, this farm is a part of the historic Mayfield Dairy Farm. It is open this year from September 23rd to November 4th. They have a pumpkin patch, three corn mazes, a rope mountain, u-pick flowers, and many more games and activities for children. Food is available on site to make your day more enjoyable. If I had to bet, my guess is that they also have some awesome ice cream available as well.

Guthrie Pumpkin Farm – Located just down the road from Mayfield Farms is Guthrie Pumpkin Farm. This is another great option this fall. They have a pumpkin patch, hayrides, corn maze, bounce pad, petting zoo, and more! They open for the season on September 24th and close October 30th.
Location: 490 County Road 67, Riceville, TN 37370
DIRECTIONS: From Chattanooga: I-75 North take Exit 42. Turn right off the exit ramp. Travel 1 mile, take the first road on your right: County Rd. 67. The pumpkin farm is 2.6 miles on your right. All you need to do is follow the signs from there!
WHAT TO EXPECT: Fun, fun, and more fun! When you make a trip to Guthrie Pumpkin Farm and Corn Maze, you can expect a day of laughs and smiles, since your ticket includes: a hay ride to the pumpkin patch, Tire Mountain, Super Slide, Calf Roping, Hill Climb, Petting Barn, Obstacle Course, Tricycles, Duck Races, Tractor Dig, Redneck Horseshoes, and much more!
Tate Farms – Located just across the state line in Alabama is Tate Farms. This is a large farm operation that will definitely be worth the drive. You can find a pumpkin patch, playground, carousel, country store, hayrides, corn cribs, and more! They open for the season on September 27th. General admission is $20 and includes all the fun the farm has to offer. They aren’t open daily, so be sure to check their website before you leave!
Copper Creek Farms – This is a very popular pumpkin patch located in Calhoun, GA. You can really make a day of it here with the endless options and activities. Every weekend in October they shoot fireworks at dusk. Their opening day is September 23rd and they close on October 28th.

DIRECTIONS: From Chattanooga: Take I-75 S Towards Atlanta; Take the GA-53 exit, EXIT 312, toward Rom; Merge onto GA-53 toward Rome/TOURIST INFO BUS DIST; Turn right onto Reeves Station Rd SW
WHAT TO EXPECT: Wagon Hayride, Haunted Maze, Kids’ Zipline, Gem Mining, Pony Rides and…much, much more!
Ocoee Valley Farms – Located on the beautiful Ocoee River, this farm is a great place to spend a Saturday in the fall. There is a pumpkin patch, slides, hay rides, campfires, s’mores, a river walk, animals, and more. They are open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays starting on September 23rd through October 29th.

DIRECTIONS: From Chattanooga: Get on I-24 E from Market St. Then, take I-75 N to US-74 E in Bradley County. Take exit 20 from I-75. Drive to US-64 E/US-74 E in Polk County.
WHAT TO EXPECT: In addition to the corn maze, participants can experience the Pumpkin Patch, where you can find a variety of sizes and colors of pumpkins that you can choose to purchase right off the vine. You’ll also find a soybean maze; hay rides; corn cannons; a cow train; farm-friendly animals. There are five mazes in total. You can also pick flowers here while you visit.
Grandaddy’s Farm – Located just north of Chattanooga is Grandaddy’s Farm. They offer a pumpkin patch, hay rides, pig races, animal corrals, and more. It opens September 23rd and closes October 28th.
Burt’s Pumpkin Farm – Located near Blue Ridge, Burt’s Pumpkin Farm has some of the largest pumpkins I’ve ever seen. They also have a storefront where you can get all kinds of pumpkin products and offer hayrides. They open for the season on September 1st.
Smith-Perry Berries – This farm is most famous in the Chattanooga area for its summer sunflower fields, but during the fall months, they transform into a beautiful pumpkin patch. Located in Ooltewah, this is the closest pumpkin patch on our list. It opens its gates on September 23rd.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Smith Perry farm is a working farm; there are not the pumpkin patch/corn maze activities of other places listed. But, it is a beautiful spot for picture taking and getting to see a farm in action! NOTE: Professional photography typically requires a fee here. Candid shots are always free!
Flat Top Farm – This farm is tucked away on Flat Top Mountain in Soddy Daisy. They have events all year long, but have a pumpkin patch and corn maze during the fall. They open their gates on September 16th.

WHAT TO EXPECT: There will be hay rides, corn maze, flower picking, pumpkins, food, and much more.
