Chattanooga’s Best Family Brunch Spots

Chattanooga's Best Family Brunch SpotsLife with three young kids usually means early mornings for us on the weekends. We are up bright and early to enjoy our day, and we have plenty of chances to try out all of Chattanooga’s great brunch spots.

In no particular order, here is a list of our favorites (with the help of some of our local friends for some new spots to try!):

Chattanooga’s Best Family Brunch Spots

First Watch

First Watch has a location on Gunbarrel Road, and we are so excited that they opened a new location on Cherokee Boulevard. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, this has quickly become a family favorite. We love the kids’ meals, and my personal favorite is the avocado toast. They have the typical breakfast staples along with many healthy choices, so there is always something to please everyone. Don’t miss the Million Dollar Bacon either! They serve breakfast and lunch daily. See the menu and more info here.

Daily Ration

This is a great spot for brunch and we love to eat on the patio. They have an area on the patio with corn hole and open space, which is a perfect spot for the kids to play. We love being able to relax on the patio. The brunch menu is unique and everything I’ve had has been great, my latest favorite being the Seared Ahi Poke Bowl. The service is not always as warm and friendly as other places in Chattanooga, but they make up for it with great food and a killer patio. Here is the weekend brunch menu.

Big Chill

While the Big Chill has more of a bar feeling than some of the other choices, they have large tables and high chairs and we have always felt like our kids are welcome. The food is a bit less healthy, but so good. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday 11am-3pm. I tend to go for super unhealthy (but super delicious) and get the Monte Cristo. Check out their brunch menu here.

Stir

Stir is another somewhat new arrival, and is a crowd pleaser. This is probably where I would bring friends from out of town to really showcase Chattanooga’s awesome mix of old and new. Stir has a great atmosphere and many large tables, but there can often be a wait. I would say that is the biggest reason we aren’t here more often. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday 10:30am-2:30pm, and all entrees include Stir’s breakfast brunch bar, which is an awesome spread. The shrimp and crab Benedict is amazing, and they have dollar mimosas! Kids seem to be welcome and they have booths and highchairs to accommodate our younger kids. Follow the link to the brunch menu here.

1885

1885 describes itself as southern coastal, and the menu reflects that. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and the brunch menu is delicious. The Belgian Waffle Bananas Foster is a yummy choice, and they have a trout hash that is a unique brunch choice worth a try.

Clyde’s

Clyde’s a great laid back, fun choice for brunch or lunch on the weekends. With ping-pong and shuffleboard tables spread throughout the restaurant and long tables on the back patio, it is a great spot for families or groups. Clyde’s kind of makes you feel cool just being there, and is another great spot to bring out of town guests or to check out if you are not from Chattanooga. Check out the brunch menu here.

Feed Table and Tavern

The Feed Co. has a great brunch menu, plenty of seating, and is very welcoming to kids. My favorite on the brunch menu are the Short Ribs and Grits. They also have a couple kids’ menu options for $5! They have a $3.50 bloody Mary bar if you want to enjoy a drink with your meal. The servers are friendly and good with kids and groups, and the food is occasionally a little on the slow side, but everything I’ve had I’ve liked!

FoodWorks

I have to mention FoodWorks because it was one of the original Chattanooga brunch spots. They have dollar mimosas which always bring in the crowds. It isn’t one of our favorites because the service is hit or miss and I never come away loving what I ordered, but some people love it and return weekend after weekend for brunch. Their brunch is served Saturday 11am-4pm and Sunday 10am-9pm. You can check out the menu here.

Maple Street Biscuit

We love Maple Street Biscuit. The walk up and order like a fast food restaurant makes dining with the kids really easy. It is definitely not the healthiest choice, but the biscuit choices are amazing. My favorite is the Squawking Goat, which has goat cheese and house made pepper jelly — so delicious. The only thing that keeps us from eating here more is we always seem to think of it on Sundays, and they are not open on Sundays. Check out the menu here.

Lakeshore Grille

I haven’t actually been here, but it was on the list for a couple of friends so we are going to have to try it. The menu looks great and it’s on the lake so it’s a good change of pace. The menu can be found here.

Ruby Sunshine

Ruby Sunshine brings the unique flavors and hospitality of New Orleans to our all-day brunch and eye-opening cocktails. Brought to you by the owners of New Orleans’ beloved Ruby Slipper Cafe, Ruby Sunshine uses fresh and local ingredients whenever possible, prepares food to order from our scratch kitchen, and gives back to the communities we serve.

We are always looking for new, great places to try. What are some of your favorites?
