Outdoor Dining in Chattanooga

There’s something about eating outside on a day with perfect weather that makes the day even more perfect, especially in the Scenic City. Chattanooga has been blessed with a plethora of restaurants that have outdoor seating, which provide an excellent setting for a romantic dinner, lunch with friends, or night out with the family.

I especially enjoy eating outside with the kids, because messes aren’t as big of a deal and their potential animal-like behavior seems a little less distracting to others. Plus, kids always love to be outside! Never mind the time when my boys decided to holler loud greetings to each passerby on the sidewalk below, and to decorate the glass wall with ketchup on the Public House patio or when a bird above us decided to decorate my son’s hair on the Terminal Brewhouse’s deck.

One of my favorite memories from here in Chattanooga is from a lunch on the upstairs outdoor patio at Tony’s Pasta Shop & Trattoria. The view was gorgeous, the weather and light breeze were glorious, the company was perfect, and the food was, as always, divine. I highly recommend requesting to sit on that deck! We also LOVE to eat at Public House, even during the cold months because, aside from their insanely delicious pimento cheese and fried pickles, they have heaters on their patio.

If the idea of being cooped up inside a stuffy restaurant on a lovely spring, summer, or fall day brings you down, you’re in luck if you live in Chattanooga! I hope you enjoy trying out some of these restaurants’ outdoor areas.

Composing this list made me realize that Chattanooga has a much greater selection of outdoor dining options than I could have imagined. I’m even tempted to create an “outdoor restaurant tour” for my family this summer. Which Chattanooga restaurants are your favorite for outdoor seating?

*If you have a dog, the “dog-friendly” restaurants allow dogs on their patios.
