Instagrammers I’m Loving: Local Edition, Part 2

0

Last month I wrote about a few of the local Instagram accounts that help me plan my family’s outings and adventures in our fair city, and gave some love to a few locals whose accounts I thought were just fun to follow for their creativity and inspiration. Well, in the search for all of those, I came across so many more, so I thought I’d give you one more dose of locals who seem to be doing this Instagram thing right. I mentioned in my last post that Instagram has become my go-to resource for planning all the things that I want to explore in Chattanooga. Sure, an events calendar is great, but pictures are what really sell something for me.

I hope you can find some inspiration in these accounts as well!

@seerockcity

Rock City is a local gem that has been around since the 1930s, but their Instagram account always keeps things fresh and current with continuous updates about upcoming events. Fall and winter are when Rock City really shines, in my opinion, with Rocktoberfest, the Blowing Springs Farm corn maze, Enchanted Garden of Lights, and many more events. They are definitely worth a follow so you don’t miss out on all they have to offer.

@chayouthfamily

The Instagram account of the City of Chatt Youth and Family Development is dedicated to families, youth, and seniors. I find it incredibly informative for events through what used to be known as the Parks and Rec department. Free movie nights, book drives, trunk or treats, and all sorts of classes and seminars are always popping up on this feed.

@chalocalfare

I love many things, but a good deal is near the top of the list. Local Fare’s Instagram account always highlights sales, specials, and deals around town. They often repost from local boutiques and shops, and it serves as a great reminder of all the great locally owned businesses we have to choose from nearby.

@getoutchatt

This account is, like Local Fare’s feed, the Instagram accompaniment to the print magazine. There is so much beauty in Chattanooga’s surrounding areas, and I’ve been visiting this page a lot lately for ideas, since fall is my favorite season to get outside and explore. I particularly love their mini features and takeovers. A while back they highlighted waterfalls in the surrounding area, and it served as a great reminder that there is still so much in the Tennessee valley that I haven’t even taken advantage of yet! My husband and I have a running list of places to take our son based solely on this account!

But, let’s be totally honest. I am really and truly, an undeniably indoorsy girl at heart, so…

@blueskieschatt and @sophies_shoppe are two local gift shops who always keep their Instagram accounts fresh and fun by highlighting their unique inventory and frequently posting giveaways or contests exclusive to Instagram and other social media accounts. Nothing hooks me like the chance to win something. Plus, I always feel great about shopping local and supporting a small business as opposed to shopping online.

@noogamade

This is another great resource for keeping it local. The page isn’t dedicated to any one store or destination, but rather highlights local artisans and entrepreneurs who make and sell their wares in Chattanooga. I am blown away by the talent in this city. There you’ll find creations from @wildwomanbotanicals @anniehanksceramics @lucentgift @radishclothingco_ and so many others who deserve their own entries.

@tivolichatt

I love following the Tivoli’s Instagram account, otherwise I probably wouldn’t know about events until after they have passed or friends have posted pics of themselves having fun at said events. It is the account for not only the Tivoli proper, but for Walker Theater, and Memorial Auditorium as well. I always stay in the know about fun family happenings, such as Peppa Pig or Wild Kratts or Paw Patrol live shows, and it’s also great for planning date nights. My husband and I got to see David Sedaris at the Tivoli because I saw it listed on Instagram the day tickets went on sale.

Look at these happy, grainy people out on a date thanks to the Tivoli’s Instagram post!

Well, there you have it. Just a few more of my local Insta-favorites. I hope you can use these as great planning tools like I do, and I would love to hear some of your ideas in the comments!
