Chattanooga Halloween Events 2017

We have finally entered my favorite part of the year: the holiday season! Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, oh my! I don’t know if it’s because I love anything with a theme, all the activities available in and around our community, or the fact that people come together more. No matter, the holiday season is a fantastic time to spend quality time with your family.

Which brings me to our first holiday of the season: Halloween!

While I am not necessarily in a rush to go to a haunted house (unless I am at Disney — I make an exception), there are plenty of fun Halloween-themed activities around Chattanooga this time of year, perfect for those who like to get spooked, as well as those who would rather keep the Halloween activities family friendly.

Chattanooga Halloween events:

Chattanooga Ghost Tour

Ghost Tours and Ticket Prices Vary.

Have you participated in a ghost tour? October is definitely the month if you’re interested in seeing the “spooky” side of Chattanooga. Rated as one of the Top 10 ghost tours in the United States by Trip Advisor and USA Today, there are a variety of ghost tours available to our local community members in order to see our city’s most haunted spots.

*Kids are welcome to try out a ghost tour since no one will be jumping out to scare them. However, the stories might be a little too scary, depending on your child.

Enchanted Maize at Blowing Springs Farm

Fridays – Sundays, Sept. 29 – Oct. 29

10am – 7pm

$10 admission (ages 3 and under are free)

With most of the Blowing Springs Farm fun requiring one token, your admission includes four tokens to start having some family fun! From the Enchanted Corn Maize to the Hay Ride, there is a perfect blend of fall fun activities of both old and new. New to the mix this year are the Pedal Carts, Cow Train, and Duck Races!

Ruby Falls Haunted Cavern

Thursday – Sunday, Oct. 12 – Oct. 29, Additional day: Oct. 31

Times vary by night.

Tickets are $20. (Unless you want the R.I.P. Fast Pass Admission, which allows passholders a separate entrance on the date and time you chose online – $30.)

Dread Hollow is the nightmare that knows no boundaries. With a new location (321 Browns Ferry Road), Ruby Falls Haunted Cavern is sure to bring chills and screams to any one who trespasses. (I am not going to lie: just opening the website to view the information had me spooked!) I would keep the little ones behind, and leave this haunted hollow to the adults and teens who can handle the scare.

Boo in the Zoo

Oct. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29

5:30-8:30pm

Tickets are free to children ages 2 and younger.

$10 for members

$15 for non-members

Who wouldn’t want to celebrate Halloween with the animals? This is just what this annual Halloween celebration provides! Of course, there’s even more fun included than just trick-or-treating with our local, furry friends. Boo in the Zoo also has a costume contest, pony rides, hay rides, bouncy houses, face painting, and much more!

Lake WinnepeSPOOKah

Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 13-28

6pm – 11pm

There will be an additional day on October 29 where the Halloween Event will be held from 5pm – 10pm.

Tickets are free to children who are under one year of age. For those children who are one and two, as well as seniors 55 and older, tickets are $13. For unlimited rides for those between ages 3 and 54, tickets are $26.

*All pricing includes admission, unlimited rides, and Halloween attractions.

This is a SPOOKtacular event that is right up my alley, perfect for family members of all ages. From kiddie rides to thrill rides, there’s something for everyone on every level of scary. Plus, there are even hourly light shows and parades for those who want to take a break from rides and check out something new and fun! But, beware; there will be a number of costumed characters who will be in the park with you! Don’t worry, though; they are the “friendly” scary kind.

AquaScarium Halloween Party

Friday, October 27

4pm – 8:30pm

Tickets are $8 for members (adult or child). For non-members, it is $30 for children three to 12 years of age and $40 for adults.

*There’s special pricing for guests of members.

Who is ready to dress up and have some fun? Come in your favorite Halloween costume, and enjoy a night full of spooky critters and yummy treats! In addition to seeing your favorite Scuba divers dressed up in their favorite Halloween costumes, you’ll also be able to dance the night away (until 8:30pm) at the Monster Mash dance party – a perfect way for kids to get all the sugar out of their system!

Tennessee Valley Railroad’s Halloween Eerie Express

Oct. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, and 28

5:30pm and 7:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays with an additional 3:35pm departure on Saturdays only.

$22 for ages 2 and up

*It is recommended for the tickets to be bought in advance to ensure you have a seat the day and time you need.

Move over, Polar Express. It isn’t quite your turn yet, as the Halloween Eerie Express is the train rolling into town this October. From storytelling to even a blacklight mini golf, this 90-minute ride is sure to be fun of Halloween adventure! And the best part? It isn’t a scary train ride during which you have to worry about someone coming to scare you. There will only be laughs and smiles on this fun train ride, making it perfect for the little ones (as well as scaredy cats like me)!

Did I miss something? That would be the scariest thing of all! Leave a comment if there are Halloween events we’ve left off!
